SEMANTICS

SEMANTICS
Hai guys…
I want to tell you about semantics, do you know  what  is semantics??  I think some of  you know what is semantics , so if you do not what is semantics don’t  worry guys I will to try explain for us.

Semantics is the study of meaning in language. Although it can be conceived as concerned with meaning in general, it is often confined to those aspects which are relatively stable and context free, in contrast to pragmatics, which is concerned with meaning variation with context.

Feature Semantics

  • Semantics is Study Relations BETWEEN mark ( emblem ) WITH The object referenced by the Signs
  • ·        Semantics is Study Regarding Meaning.
The study of semantics includes the study of how meaning is constructed, interpreted, clarified, obscured, illustrated, simplified, negotiated, contradicted, and paraphrased.
The noun semantics and the adjective semantic are derived from the Greek word semantikos(“significant”). In semantics is the subfield that is devoted to the study of meaning, as borne on the syntactic levels of words, phrases, sentences, and sometimes larger units of discourse, generically referred to astext.
Some important areas of semantic theory or related subjects include these:
       Symbol and referent
       Conceptions of meaning
       Words and lexemes
       Denotation, connotation, implication
       Pragmatics
       Ambiguity
       Metaphor, simile and symbol
       Semantic fields
      Synonym, antonym and hyponym
      Collocation, fixed expression and idiom
      Semantic change and etymology
      Polysemy
      Homonymy, homophones and homographs
Study of the linguistic meaning of morphemes, words, phrases, and sentences is called Semantics.
Subfields of semantics are lexical (of or relating to the vocabulary, words, or morphemes of a language) semantics, which is concerned with the meanings of words, and the meaning relationships among words; and phrasal or sentential semantics, which is concerned with the meaning of syntactic units larger than the word.
Type of semantics  :
1. connotative semantics
2. denotative semantics

I think that's all from me thank you.....

  1. Give me a reason why the semantic is important to entre my lesson?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Because in learning semantics we will know what the word means

      Hapus
  2. What the different connotative and denotative semantic ??

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Denotative meaning is the literal meaning of a word without an accompanying meaning, as connotative meaning is the meaning of a word that has a link of thoughts, feelings, and others that give rise to certain sense values. In other words, denotative meaning is a general meaning, while connotative meaning is more personal and special

      Hapus
  3. How do we practice semantics in our language to make people understand what's our meaning ?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. The easiest way to get people to understand what we mean is to understand the pattern or the way someone we are communicating means the words or sentences we speak. Do it with simple conversations by asking, "how are you doing", "how he saw a problem ", etc. When we know the pattern of meaning of the person, all we need to do is adjust our language pattern so that it matches the semantics of our interlocutor

      Hapus
  4. Exactly what are symbol and referent, words and lexemes, denotation, connotation, implication, hyponym, collocation, fixed expression and idiom, polysemy and sentential?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Denotative meaning is a general meaning, while connotative meaning is more personal and special.
Hyponymy is an inter-relationship relationship that shows superiors and subordinate hierarchies.
Idiomatic meanings are meanings in idioms, meanings that deviate from the conceptual and grammatical meanings of their constituent elements.
Polisemi is the meaning relationship of a word that has more than one meaning or a word that has different meanings but still in one channel of meaning

    1. Examples of semantic meanings:

      1. Grammatical Meanings

      "Smelling" means "Has smell"

      2. Constitutional Meanings

My sister fell off the motorbike
      I fell in love
      Her pride fell

The three falling words have different meanings. The meaning is different depending on the process.

    1. Because I really like playing with meaning and like analyzing words

      Hapus
    2. just it? do u want be a expert of this study?

      Hapus
    3. why you interest to be expert of semantic?

      Hapus
    4. Because there are so many benefits

      Hapus
    5. For us, a student majoring in language, the purpose of studying semantics is to make it easier to analyze language (both the language he has learned, the language he has not learned, and the language he will learn), easier to learn meaning in language, then if a student wants to be a teacher can make it easier for him to explain the meaning of certain words to prospective students

      Hapus
    6. then what is your next plan to get the expert semantic title

      Hapus
    7. By not stopping to understand it and develop the semantics themselves

      Hapus
    8. What jobs are suitable for semantic experts?

      Hapus
    9. Yes according to his understanding. semantics work in interpreting a word

      Hapus
  7. Tina, i love your blog, but, Can U Explain, why do semantics have an important role in language teaching, including teaching English as a foreign language?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Because in learning semantics we will know what the word means

      Hapus
  8. Does semantics have related with grammar ?

    BalasHapus
  9. Tin please give example of the both types of semantic about connotative semantic and denotative semantic.

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Denotative example: a thin word means a person's body condition that is smaller than a normal size.

A connotative example: thin connotes neutral.

      lean positive connotation

      skinny negative connotation

  10. How do you can applied semantics in your study?

    BalasHapus

  11. why morphemes, words, phrases called semantic?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Because therefore all learn about the meaning of language

      Hapus
  12. try giving examples of semantics in everyday life

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Ari is sweating coldly waiting for her job interview turn this afternoon. (Meaning: Ari is nervous waiting for his job interview turn this afternoon.)

      Hapus
  13. Thank you... It's better if you develop it

    BalasHapus
  14. Can we do applied simantics in our daily conversation??

    BalasHapus
  15. what the meaning of Homonymy, homophones and homographs?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Homonyms are words that have different meanings but pronunciations or spellings are the same. If the pronunciation is equally called homophon, but if the same is the spelling it is called a homograph

      Hapus
  16. What the effec for life ?? If i applied to life?

    BalasHapus
  17. can you tell me about connotative semantics ?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. The connotative meaning is the meaning of a word that has a connection between thoughts, feelings, and others that give rise to certain sense values. In other words, connotative meaning is more personal and special

      Hapus
  18. as a teacher, how to bring the semantic theory into class that we teach?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. By explaining to students the exact meaning in a language. For students to know the exact meaning in a language.

      Hapus
  19. what connotative semantics and denotative semantics explain?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Denotative meaning is the literal meaning of a word without an accompanying meaning, as connotative meaning is the meaning of a word that has a link of thoughts, feelings, and others that give rise to certain sense values. Hapus
  20. what is the advantages of semantics compared to other linguistic branches??

    BalasHapus
  21. Semantic is same like idiom, isn't it?
