PRAGMATIC
Hello guys.. long time no see yah..
I will explain about pragmatic.
I took from some expert:
1. Cruse (2000:16) said:
Pragmatic
can be taken to be concerned with aspect of information (in the widest
sense) conveyed through language which are not encoded by generally
accepted convention in the linguistic form used but which none the less
arise naturally out of and depend on the meaning conventionally encoded
in the linguistic form used, taken in conjunction with the context in
the forms are used (emphasis added).
2. Levinson
Pragmatic
is the study of those relations between language and context that are
grammaticalized or encoded in the structure of language. (Page 9)
Levinson
also stated that Pragmatic is the study of the relation between
language and context that are basic to an account of language
understanding. (Page 21)
3. Mey (1993:42)
The
study of the condition of human language uses as these is determined by
the context of society. Pragmatic is needed if we want a fuller,
deeper, and generally more reasonable account of human language
behavior.
In my opinion pragmatic is something that is more concerned with the end result than the values held by the community.
please give example that pragmatic is something that is more concerned with the end result than the values held by the community
BalasHapusa pragmatic example is a ball game that only aims to produce points or goals without considering playing techniques
HapusWhat result???
BalasHapusAs an example is a ball game that only aims to produce points or goals without considering playing techniques
Hapuswhat expert you trust in pragmatics?
BalasHapusCruse expert
Hapus"The study of the condition of human language uses as these is determined by the context of society" Can you explain more with example about this definition ?
BalasHapusAs an example is a ball game that only aims to produce points or goals without considering playing techniques
HapusHow could you say without considering the techniques, so what is the advantages the coach in the team? By your explanation "condition of human language" what is the condition ?
Hapusyes, the goal of ball games is only to produce scores or goals without considering playing methods or techniques such as attacking or defending. However, good playing techniques make a greater chance of scoring a score or goal
HapusWhat result??
BalasHapusAs an example is a ball game that only aims to produce points or goals without considering playing techniques
HapusI love the way you define pragmatics but it doesn't even connect with anything from the theories you cited...Σ(▼-▼)
BalasHapusThere really are connect. Read carefully again tatum :)
HapusCruse says info, Levinson points context
HapusMey mentions society, and then you said end result
There is NO CONNECTION ←~(Ψ▼ー▼)∈
From the 3 experts above, I want to know, who do you most believe in the theory? and why? Please explain to me!
BalasHapuscruse expert.
Hapusbecause pragmatic is conveyed through language that is not coded
